School Uniform
We are proud of our school uniform and we encourage it to be worn as we believe it not only looks smart, it is practical and good value. It also encourages a feeling of belonging to our school.
We hope your child will wear the school colours of red and white. Many children wear the school sweatshirt which can be purchased from our uniform supplier (TFS School and Dancewear Ltd based at 45 Spital Street, Dartford, Kent. DA1 2DX – Telephone 01322 291838 -Email enquiries@tfsclothing.co.uk – Website https://tfsclothing.co.uk) which is extremely popular and durable.
Nursery children are also encouraged to wear the school sweatshirt.
Reception pupils need to wear black jogging bottoms, a white polo shirt, a red jumper/cardigan/school sweatshirt. In the summer the children are welcome to wear black shorts.
Children in Years 1 – 6 should wear a red jumper/cardigan/school sweatshirt with grey skirt or grey trousers (not black). In summer red / white dresses can be worn. A white polo shirt can be worn in summer on its own or under the sweatshirt in the winter.
PE Kit - Children in Years 1 – 6 will also need a PE kit comprising; white shirt, red shorts and plimsolls/trainers. For outdoor PE lessons a black tracksuit can be worn. It is essential that your child has a full range of clothing for PE and their PE kit is stored in an appropriate PE bag.
It is important that your child comes to school in sturdy black shoes without logos or brands (such as Adidas stripes or the Nike tick). On the playground he/she will be running around, climbing and using moving toys such as bikes and scooters. Any child who does not wear appropriate footwear will be required to change into a pair of plimsolls provided by the school and wear these for the duration of the school day.
We believe that one of the responsibilities of parents is to ensure that their child has the correct uniform and PE kit, and that it is clean, in good repair and that the child’s name is written on all items. If a parent has difficulties for any reason with fulfilling this request, they are asked to speak confidentially to a senior member of staff to discuss the issues. Parents should be assured that we will do all we can to help.
All clothing should be clearly marked with your child’s name Items of clothing are frequently handed in as ‘lost property’ and their owners never traced because the clothing has not been marked. The school cannot be held responsible for any lost property.
The school welcomes children from all backgrounds and faith communities. If there are serious reasons, for example on religious grounds, why parents want their child to wear clothes that differ from the school uniform, the school will consider such requests sympathetically. If any parent would like to request a modification to the uniform policy they should, in the first instance, contact the Headteachers.
Jewellery, Hair Accessories and Make Up
For health and safety reasons we do not allow children to wear jewellery. The exceptions to this rule are ear-ring studs in pierced ears, and small objects of religious significance. Children are required to remove any items during PE lessons to prevent them from causing injury. Please note: teachers are not permitted to remove earrings. Hair bands, beads, ribbons/bows or ‘scrunchies’ should be plain and red only – our school colour. Hair bands should not have large flowers attached. Make up and nail varnish should not be worn to school unless for an out of school hours function, for example a school disco – if stated on the event letter. Extreme hairstyles are not appropriate for school. The use of styling products should be kept to a minimum and children should not have decorative patterns cut into their hair or have hair coloured or dyed.
